Reset, and first post
Posted by jbshep on June 20, 2007
As of today, I am “resetting” this blog. Why? I feel as though this blog has become too broad in scope, and I’d like to just focus my reflection on a few areas of my life: family, faith, teaching, and research. With that, I give you the obligatory first post.
If you are new to this blog, or if you haven’t been here in a while (which is understandable–I haven’t updated it for months), I do suggest you visit my other virtual presences as well: Flickr, Facebook, and MySpace.
Much has changed in my life recently, most notably my employment status. In the fall, I will begin teaching computer science at Buena Vista University after spending almost 10 years as a software engineer and IT consultant. I’m anxious for this new challenge, and I’m excited for the opportunity to integrate my industry experiences into the classroom with the goal of blending theory and practice.

Hey, thanks for the comment. Does this mean that you yourself are jaded with the “real-world” industry?
I look forward to reading your blog posts on all the topics you mentioned, and congrats again on the BV professorship!

Congrats on the new job. It’s always fun to have challenges. You’ll make a great teacher!
